The newly-opened @bluebottlecoffee Shibuya Cafe in Kitaya Park, Tokyo, features the delightful ISHINOMAKI STACKING BENCH, designed to offer visitors a serene spot to savor their coffee in a relaxed ambiance. Picture a pair of guests seated comfortably on these benches, enjoying their beverages while immersing themselves in the tranquil surroundings.

The bench's width is thoughtfully crafted to accommodate Blue Bottle Coffee's trays, allowing visitors to place them between the seats, creating a minimalist and inviting atmosphere. Moreover, the design's stackable, lightweight, and compact features were meticulously considered to facilitate easy daily handling for the cafe's staff.

With an emphasis on both functionality and aesthetics, the ISHINOMAKI STACKING BENCH adds a touch of elegance to the cafe while ensuring visitors have a cozy and enjoyable coffee experience.

Keiji Ashizawa, based in Tokyo, Japan, is a highly accomplished architect and designer. Graduating from Yokohama University School of Architecture in 1995, he embarked on a unique career journey, honing his skills as both an architect and a steel fabricator during the initial decade of his profession. The invaluable experience and understanding of metals gained during these formative years continue to profoundly shape his design philosophy.

At the core of Keiji Ashizawa's approach is an unwavering commitment to 'honest' design. He strives for simplicity, refinement, thoughtfulness, and an airy sensibility, aiming to unlock the full potential of each material and its functionality in a natural and intuitive manner. His innate ability to apply these principles across projects of varying scales—from furniture and lighting design to architecture and exhibition endeavors—demonstrates his versatility and creative excellence.

His exceptional furniture and lighting designs have earned global recognition, being showcased in international exhibitions since 2001. In 2011, Ashizawa's invaluable contribution to the establishment of Ishinomaki Laboratory—a DIY furniture workshop in Ishinomaki city, Japan, initiated after the devastating tsunami triggered by the Great East Japan Earthquake—earned him the prestigious 'Special Award' from the Japan Institute of Design. Keiji Ashizawa's enduring dedication to thoughtful design and his significant impact on the industry continue to inspire and influence designers worldwide.
