How Color Can Change the Perception of an Interior Space.

Humans spend more time indoors, whether at home or in the office. Based on a study showing that 87% of us spend more time inside than outside. A pleasant environment positively affects the mood and well-being of its occupants, just as a place that is less calm and uncomfortable can make life miserable.

That is why the craft of interior design is so important, even though it is taken for granted by some professionals. When designing an interior space, the architect has the ability to change important things such as artificial lighting, natural lighting and the proportions of materials, all of these elements affect the experience that the occupants will have.

To provide the desired experience, there are elements that are emphasized without changing an inch of the space. This can be done by painting the surface of the space, using different materials or using different layers. Lighter and cooler colors make the space appear larger. While darker colors make it look more closed and smaller on the eyes. The arrangement of colors or textures in the environment can change the perspective of a space, making the space taller, longer, wider or able to highlight certain elements.
